Key points
- Root canal fees at our clinic range from ₹3,000 to ₹18,000, depending mainly on the tooth.
- Back teeth usually need a crown afterwards, which costs ₹3,000–25,000 depending on the material.
- Molars cost more than front teeth because they have more canals to clean and seal.
- You get an exact estimate after an examination and X-ray, before any treatment begins.
Why root canal prices vary
A root canal cleans out infected or inflamed pulp from inside the tooth, then seals it. The work involved — and so the fee — depends on a few things that can only be judged after an examination and X-ray.
The biggest factor is which tooth needs treatment. Each canal has to be found, cleaned, shaped, disinfected and sealed, so a tooth with more canals takes more time and material.
| Tooth | Usual number of canals | Complexity |
|---|---|---|
| Front teeth (incisors, canines) | 1 | Simplest |
| Premolars | 1–2 | Moderate |
| Molars (back teeth) | 3–4 | Most complex |
Other factors include how far the infection has spread, curved or narrow canals, whether the tooth has had a root canal before (re-treatment is more involved), and the number of sittings needed.
What the fee usually covers
Ask what the quoted fee includes before treatment starts. A complete estimate normally covers:
- The examination and the X-rays taken during treatment
- Local anaesthesia
- Cleaning, shaping and disinfecting the canals
- Medication placed inside the tooth between sittings
- Filling and sealing the canals at the final sitting
The crown that protects the tooth afterwards is usually priced separately, because the right material varies from tooth to tooth.
The crown: a separate but important cost
After a root canal, a back tooth becomes more brittle and can crack under chewing pressure. That is why molars and premolars usually need a crown once the canals are sealed. Front teeth sometimes manage with a filling.
Crowns at our clinic cost ₹3,000–25,000. The difference comes from the material:
| Material | Looks | Often chosen for |
|---|---|---|
| Metal | Silver or gold coloured | Back teeth where looks matter less |
| Metal-ceramic | Tooth-coloured outside, metal inside | Strength at an economical price |
| Zirconia | Tooth-coloured and very strong | Back teeth that need strength and a natural look |
| All-ceramic (such as E-max) | The most natural translucency | Front teeth |
Is it cheaper to remove the tooth instead?
An extraction costs less on the day — ₹1,000–7,000 at our clinic. But a missing tooth usually needs replacing, and a bridge (₹9,000–60,000) or implant (₹20,000–80,000) often costs more than saving the tooth.
Leaving a gap has its own cost: neighbouring teeth can drift and tilt into the space, which affects your bite and makes cleaning harder. When a tooth can be saved, keeping it is usually the better choice. Our guide to implants, bridges and dentures compares the replacement options.
How to get an exact estimate
- Book an examinationThe tooth is checked and an X-ray shows the roots and the extent of infection.
- Get the options in writingYou receive the cost of the root canal and of each crown option.
- Ask about sittingsMost root canals here take 3–4 sittings over about 8–10 days.
- Decide in your own timeNothing begins until you agree to the estimate.
Frequently asked questions
Does a root canal cost more for a molar?
Usually yes. Molars have three or four canals, compared with one in most front teeth, so the treatment takes longer and uses more material.
Is the crown included in the root canal price?
Usually not. The crown is priced separately because the material — metal, metal-ceramic, zirconia or all-ceramic — changes the cost. Your estimate lists both.
How many sittings will I need?
At our clinic a root canal typically takes 3–4 sittings over about 8–10 days, depending on the tooth and the infection.
